Two of LimbBo’s co-founders were invited to a parliamentary summit in Westminster yesterday, organised by our friend and ambassador Marie Tidball MP. To say it was a privilege is an understatement. It was amazing to meet so many incredible women and maternity care campaigners, working together to achieve safe, high quality maternity care for all disabled mothers.
Whilst our children are still young this may not have been on our radar but as our children grow, we want to ensure that they are included and treated with the respect they deserve in all aspects of their lives.
There were cross overs with the experience of giving birth to a disabled child and concepts such as continuity of care, choice of language, adaptive resources and support were all discussed. The range of people there was heartwarming to see, everyone with the goal of inclusion in mind.
A day in London left us with lots to reflect upon, lots of new links created, and the bustle and sights of London was invigorating and exhausting! When we began the LimbBo Foundation we underestimated the connections we would make that will support our young people. We will keep you posted as to how this work progresses.
