Camp LimbBo 2025

‘Why fit in when you were born to stand out?’

Our blog post after events always starts with a quote. Well after Camp LimbBo 2025 I’d like to say thank you to Amelia for sharing this quote from Dr Seuss on her t shirt.

All of our limb different children and their siblings are special. They stand out in a crowd for their determination, kindness and sense of adventure. Camp LimbBo 2025 was our third camp – and believe it or not it didn’t rain until we were packing up which is definitely a first for us.

Our children were allocated teams and bonded very quickly with lots of friendly rivalry between the groups. The flag making session on Friday evening cemented their bonds and these banners were carried with pride, waved jubilantly at the top of the climbing wall and held aloft for the group to follow.

All of our children attempted the activities which included Canoeing (wet as always), Zip line and Cresta run providing the loudest screams, Crate stack which showed great teamwork and climbing where the groups really shouted encouragement for one another.

Our ‘babies’ were camp babies and were happy to be around people – Jacob greeted everyone with a cheerful ‘Hiya’ at mealtimes and Florence ate her first sandwich which Jane had left on her highchair tray whilst feeding Jacob (sorry Katie!)

The campfire was awesome as ever, with Tommy’s Scout leader ‘Piper’ leading the event – if you haven’t seen the video on our Facebook page please take a look https://fb.watch/A2EaO097y4/ . One of our older children said ‘I thought it would be really boring, but it was hilarious.’

Sunday morning saw t shirt designs with lots of handprints celebrating our differences, shiny stickers and the continuation of the LimbBo tradition of decorating little arms with googly eyes.

The whole weekend was amazing – thanks to Katie (our operations manager) for her sterling efforts and organisation, to the group leaders and volunteers who made sure everyone was safe, encouraged, celebrated and fed. To Adam who holds it all together during the weekend and beyond.

For some of our families it was their first LimbBo event. There is no way to warn people that seeing all of our children relaxing, being themselves, not hiding their limb difference, actually being in the majority – will really pull at your heart. The relief you feel when you know they will be ok – they have support, they have friends and as a charity ‘we’ve got you’ ‘we will support you and be there for you’. We make no apologies for making you cry as we know these were tears of joy and know that everyone at camp ‘just gets it.’

Adam has already booked Camp LimbBo 2026, We have Adventure Day on August 7th and can’t wait to see you all again. #TeamlimbBo #Bornready
